Homemade Fudge Pop-Tarts

Home-made pop-tarts are one of those things that I have seen all over Pinterest but just haven't made yet. I found this recipe on Pinterest and pinned it awhile and today I decided to finally try it out. It was surprisingly really easy and they turned out really good, so it was a win win!

Here's how to make 'em

3 1/2 cups flour
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) cold butter, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1/2 cup ice cold water

Fuge Filling:
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2/3 cup milk (I used 2%) or heavy cream
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
3 ounces good bittersweet or dark chocolate, chopped
2 tablespoon unsalted butter, cup into small cubes
2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3-6 tablespoons water
2 ounces dark or milk chocolate, melted
Sprinkles for decorations

Pre-heat oven to 400F
I started with the frosting just so it would cool off while I make the other parts of the pop-tart. To make the filling, combine the cocoa powder, brown sugar, milk, salt and chocolate in a pan and heat up until the chocolate is fully melted. Take the pan off heat and add the butter and vanilla and stir until the butter is melted.

For the dough, combine all of the dry ingredients first in a food processor and then slowly add the butter until the mixture has a crumb like texture. Next add the water until the mixture turns into a dough like consistency. Once mixed, cut the dough in half and start rolling on a slightly floured surface until about 1/8 of an inch thick. Next cut the dough into 6in by 3in pieces ( or however big you want them). I then put about 2 tablespoons of filling on one side and folded the other side over and used a fork to press the sides closed.

Bake the pop-tarts for 10-12 minutes (Use parchment paper so the pop-tarts don't stick when baking). Make sure they are fully cooled before you put the frosting on.

    Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging a long time ago with one of my friends, we were probably like 14 at the time when we started a blog together and I thought it was really fun and then started my own and then stopped and then started another one, which is this one. I don't really remember why I started to be honest.

Describe your style in three words:
Ohh. Okay. I'd say basic, casual but effortless at the same time.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
    YouTube. Definitely.

If your life were made into a movie, who would you cast to play you?
    Jennifer Lawrence duh

What do you like to do on the weekends?

Teen Wolf, which is another guilty pleasure. And American Horror Story

    Heels or flats?

    What's your biggest pet peeve?
I have so many its unhealthy.

If you could travel back in time where/when would you go?
I think I would go back to my Freshman year of highschool and just re-do highschool. You all probably think I'm crazy.

What's on your shopping wish list right now?
Well, first, a nice leather jacket. And second,I really want to incorporate some funky pieces into my wardrobe, like a cool pair of shoes or a bomber jacket with a cool print.

Would you rather be a wizard or a super hero?
Well, I'm actually reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows right now so most definitely a wizard.

    City of Angels

Recently I took a road trip to Los Angeles to see what LA was all about. I have never been to L.A and since I've lived in California my whole life, I felt like it was kind of my duty to visit L.A. Another reason is because I recently turned 20, so I'm not a teenager obviously, and I'm looking to move in the near future and finish schooling. Originally I thought that L.A would be a good place to start because its only about a 6 hour drive from where I live now with my family. I was deciding between L.A and New York and I'm going to have to say that New York wins my heart. When I went in November I had such an amazing time and I didn't want to leave. Now, don't get me wrong I had fun in L.A of course but I just couldn't see myself living there.

L.A is a weird place and I find it odd that so many glamorous people live there, because most of L.A is far from glamorous. Parts of L.A are either really dirty or strangely perfect, there is no in between there. Driving everywhere is the other down side, and the traffic is not too fun. There are some cool streets to walk down and some nice shops and good places to eat, but personally New York has was more personality. Here are just a few pictures from my trip, I didn't take too many pictures mostly because my camera is such a hassle to carry sometimes.

    Favorite Pins of The Month

Oh, hello! I know that I haven't posted in about cough cough...2 months... but I've been pretty busy these past two months with starting a new semester and all. I really wish that I had more time to blog, or that I would make more time to blog especially because one of my New Years resolutions was to blog more...which was in my last post. So I've been failing miserably. So because I haven't been blogging I've been really into Pinterest. Like more than I was before, so I've decided to do a post on some of my favorite pins this month, starting with Beyonce cause I mean...

    Hello 2014.

Hello! I actually can not believe that it is already 2014. I can remember last New Years like it was last month. Since it is the New Year I've decided to share some New Years resolutions for this year, well they aren't exactly resolutions I think, they are more like goals I'd like to accomplish with in 2014.
    1. I want to focus more on my blog and gain more followers and what not. I want more people to see what I do on here and share their thoughts with me. I basically want my blog to be the best it can be this year. I'd also like to do more outfit posts, and become brave enough to do them other places besides just my backyard...
    2. I want to be healthier. I know everybody says this every year, but this year I want to focus on eating better not necessarily working out everyday, just eating better is my main goal.
    3. I want to travel more, whether it be just down to San Francisco, which is just a 40 minute drive from where I live, or going back to New York again. I just want to see the world and experience different places. I would really love to go to Europe this year, but I don't think I have enough money to pull that off just yet.
Oh ya, and I got new hair! I got the urge to cut it and so I just kind of went for it and I'm very pleased with the way it turned out!
What are some of your resolutions for this year? Or goals?
